The Braves are pleased with catcher Tyler Flowers’ first rehab as he works his way back from a left oblique injury.

Flowers was placed on the disabled list March 30 after exiting a game the day before with oblique discomfort. He began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, collecting two hits and an RBI.

“Feels fine,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said regarding reports on Flowers. “He’s back at it today. He felt good and knocked in a run. He had some good at-bats.”

Flowers will be back in the lineup Tuesday and Wednesday. The Stripers are off Thursday, and Flowers will catch Friday when the team returns home.

Snitker said the team will evaluate him from there, but it remains possible he joins the team on the latter end of the current road trip in Philadelphia or New York.

Flowers, 32, hit .281 with 12 homers and 49 RBIs in 2017. He posted career-highs in on-base percentage (.378), slugging percentage (.445), runs scored (41) and average.
