Transportation officials are warning baseball fans heading to this week's games between the Braves and the Yankees and Red Sox to plan ahead or take MARTA, as special rules will be in effect for Turner Field parking lots.

"Only patrons with pre-purchased parking passes can park in official Turner Field lots," the state Department of Transporation said in a notice posted on the department's Web site.

There will be "no on-site purchase of parking passes," according to the DOT advisory.

"Ticket holders without parking passes are strongly advised to take MARTA to the stadium," the DOT said. "Even 'off-site' parking is limited during these two series."

The DOT also warned that traffic to and from the stadium area will be "extremely heavy."
