NEXT: VS TAMPA BAY RAYS
Tuesday
Time: 7:10 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Mike Foltynewicz (2-0, 4.24 ERA) vs. RH Erasmo Ramirez (1-1, 6.66)
Comment: The Braves are looking for their fourth win in five starts with the rookie Foltynewicz on the mound. He took a no-decision his last time out May 12 against the Reds despite putting up his first quality start (6 2/3 innings, three runs, two earned.) Ramirez will be making only his fourth start of the season to allow the rest of the Rays rotation extra rest. He's pitched primarily in relief but was dominant in a start Thursday against the Yankees. A leadoff single by Jacob Ellbury was the only hit he allowed in five shutout innings.
Wednesday
Time: 7:10 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Williams Perez (0-0, 15.43) vs. RH Jake Odorizzi (3-3, 2.36)
Comment: The rookie Perez will be making his first major league start in place of a struggling Eric Stults, who had lost three straight starts while allowing 14 runs and six home runs combined. Perez has given up four earned runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief but that's not his comfort zone. He's gone 30-23 with a 3.32 ERA in 109 games (89 starts) through seven years in the minors. The 23-year-old from Venezuela went 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA in five starts for Gwinnett. Odorizzi has posted quality starts in seven of his eight outings this season, and the one that he didn't? He gave up four runs in 6 1/3 innings at Yankee Stadium.
