NEXT: AT MIAMI MARLINS
Friday
Time: 7:10 p.m.
TV: FSSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Ryan Weber (0-1, 3.26 ERA) vs. RH Jose Fernandez (5-0, 2.18)
Comment: Weber is looking for his first win in his fourth major league start. He came close in his most-recent outing, against the Phillies, when he gave up just one run on two hits in seven innings, but settled for a no-decision in a 2-1 win. Fernandez is 3-1 with a 1.32 ERA in five career starts against the Braves, with 41 strikeouts and only eight walks in 34 innings. He took a no-decision against them Aug. 7, giving up two runs in five innings, before being shut down with biceps soreness. He has given up just two run in 10 2/3 innings in two starts against the Nationals since his return and remains undefeated in his first season back from Tommy John surgery.
Saturday
Time: 7:10 p.m.
TV: FSSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Julio Teheran (10-7, 4.20) vs. LH Justin Nicolino (3-4, 4.50)
Comment: Teheran is 5-1 with a 2.69 ERA in 11 career starts against the Marlins, including 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in three starts against them this season. He is 7-3 with a 3.22 ERA in his past 10 starts overall since moving to the first-base side of the rubber in early August. The Braves were shut out for seven innings by the rookie Nicolino on Sept. 1 in a game they lost 7-1. Since then, Nicolino has given up 15 runs in 16 innings in three consecutive Marlins losses.
Sunday
Time: 1:10 p.m.
TV: FSSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Shelby Miller (5-16, 3.00) vs. RH Tom Koehler (10-14, 3.94)
Comment: If nothing else it could give Miller some symmetry to end his record 23-start winless streak back in Miami, where he last recorded a win May 17 by taking a no-hitter to the 27th out in a 6-0 win. After a rough patch, Miller got back on track with his end of things in his most-recent start against the Mets (two runs, six innings), but once again the Braves' offense went cold behind him in a 4-0 loss. Koehler is 2-1 with a 2.88 ERA in four starts in September. When the Braves last faced him, Aug. 8, he was in the midst of a seven-game losing streak, including the 7-2 loss in Atlanta.
