Baseball's all-time hits leader will be in attendance for this year's All-Star Game festivities in Cincinatti, his hometown and also the place where he was a player and manager for his illustrious but tainted career.
Pete Rose, who recently turned 74, was banned from baseball for life in 1989 after gambling on his team as a manager.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred will discuss Rose's role for the festivities with Reds owner Bob Castellini, according to the Associated Press.
Rose has 4,256 career hits and has won three World Series titles. He applied for reinstatement under former commissioner Bud Selig but was never given an answer.
Rose has submitted another application for reinstatement since Manfred took over, according to the Associated Press.
He is not eligible for the Hall of Fame until the ban is lifted.
The 2015 All-Star Game is July 14.
