We now know Charlie Culberson’s new jersey number, and some others

Braves infielder/outfielder Charlie Culberson will wear No. 8 on the back of his uniform this season.

Culberson already had said he would relinquish the No. 16 to Brian McCann, who wore than number when he played with the Braves from 2005-13, but at first, Culberson wouldn’t reveal his choice of a new number.

An interesting twist to Culberson’s choice is that his near look-alike, Dansby Swanson, wears No. 7. With each wearing a single-digit numeral on his jersey, it becomes that much more difficult to tell them apart at a quick glance or from a distance.

Free-agent signee Josh Donaldson will wear No. 20, which we saw at his introductory news conference. Two other players on the 40-man roster will wear different uniform numbers: Bryse Wilson switches from 72 to 66 and Kyle Wright from 73 to 65. Also, pitching coach Rick Kranitz will wear No. 57. Former pitching coach Chuck Hernandez wore No. 55.
