A recap of the Braves’ loss to the Washington Nationals on Tuesday at Turner Field.

How the game was won: Former Braves second baseman Dan Uggla hit a three-run homer off closer Jason Grilli in the ninth inning to lift the Nationals to a 13-12 victory. The Braves scored six runs in the second inning for a 9-1 advantage but the Nationals rallied with home runs by Jose Lobaton in the fifth inning and Denard Span in the sixth against Braves starter Julio Teheran. Uggla and Reed Johnson, another ex-Brave, had RBIs in the seventh to pull the Nationals within 11-10 and then Uggla won the game with his first homer of the season.

Number: 11. Consecutive games with a hit for Braves catcher A.J. Pierzynski. He's hit safely in every game he's played this season.

Next: The Braves play the Nationals at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday on SportsSouth. Alex Wood (1-0, 3.00 ERA) faces Jordan Zimmerman (1-2, 5.23).
