MIAMI — The Braves hired former major league pitcher Mike Maroth as their new minor league rehabilitation pitching coordinator, a position created last spring to oversee the many pitchers at various stages of injury rehab at the player-development complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Former pitcher Dan Meyer held the position this year, and will remain in the organization in another undetermined position. Maroth will report to player development director Dave Trembley and assistant director Jonathan Schuerholz.

Maroth, 38, spent the past four seasons as a minor league pitching coach in the Detroit Tigers organization, most recently with the Triple-A team during the 2015 season. The left-hander had a 50-67 record and 5.05 ERA in 161 games (150 starts) over six major league seasons through 2007 with the Tigers and Cardinals.
