Markakis delivers three-run homer to cap Braves’ comeback

Nick Markakis hit a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Braves an 8-5 victory against the Phillies on Thursday at SunTrust Park in the Braves’ season opener. The Braves trailed 5-0 after the top of the sixth inning.

Freddie Freeman was intentionally walked by the Phillies to bring Markakis to the plate. Charlie Culberson led off the inning with an infield single.

The Phillies scored four runs in the sixth inning to build a 5-0 lead. The Braves scored two in the sixth and three in the eighth. Freeman hit a two-run homer in the sixth and Ozzie Albies a solo homer in the eighth.
