Veteran Jose Bautista, soon to be the Braves' every-day third baseman, went 1-for-5 in the Gwinnett Stripers' 8-3 Triple A loss to the Red Wings in Rochester Wednesday afternoon.
Bautista is hitting .143 in four games. He has no homers or RBIs.
The Braves signed Bautista, 37, to a minor league deal April 18. Manager Brian Snitker has confirmed Bautista will start at third base when he’s promoted.
Five Gwinnett pitchers combined to allow eight runs on seven hits and 10 walks against Rochester.
Dustin Peterson homered for the Stripers. He’s gone deep in consecutive games, doubling his total from last season when he played in 87 games.
Peterson also went 3-for-5 for the second straight day for Gwinnett (7-11).
