New York Mets player Wilmer Flores heard a rumor from fans in the stand that he had been traded and he couldn’t hold back the tears.
The Mets kept Flores in the Wednesday night game despite his tears.

Fans saw the false report on Twitter. The trade deal almost happened but reportedly broke down over the Mets’ concern for the health of Brewers player Carlos Gomez. Instead of going to the Mets, Gomez went to the Astos.

The 23-year-old player, a Venezuelan, got a standing ovation from fans who thought he was traded at the top of the 8th inning.
Flores signed with the Mets on his 16th birthday, in 2007, and became a major league infielder after fight his way up through the minors.
MANAGER REACTION
After Wednesday night's game, Mets manager Terry Collins said he was confused by the crying and the false reports about a trade but he told Flores, basically, "no crying in baseball" and sent him back out on the field.
The trade deadline is Friday 4 p.m.ET — so don’t put the hankies away just yet.
