How the winning run scored: With two outs in the top of the seventh, Shelley Duncan's single to left drove home Cole Figueroa and gave Durham a 5-4 lead over Gwinnett on Friday night. Tim Beckham scored the tying run earlier in the inning on a wild pitch by Mark Lamm. Beckham reached base on a throwing error by third baseman Joe Leonard, one of four errors by the G-Braves.

At the plate: Only one batter had more than one hit — Gwinnett's Stefan Gartrell (2-for-4). Gartrell singled in the ninth and reached second on a sacrifice bunt by Leonard. Pagnozzi grounded out, and Sean Kazmar struck out swinging to end the game.

On the mound: Gwinnett starter Cody Martin gave up three runs (one earned) in five innings. He allowed three hits, walked four and struck out seven.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (54-74) begin a road trip at 7 p.m. Saturday at Toledo. Right-hander David Hale (6-7, 2.99 ERA) is scheduled to start for Gwinnett.
