How the winning run scored: In top of the first, with two outs and the bases empty Stefan Gartrell smacked a solo homer to center field off of Red Wings starter Luke French to give Gwinnett a 1-0 lead. Ernesto Mejia followed with a double, and he was driven in by Drew Sutton. Braves led 2-0 over the Rochester Red Wings.
At the plate: Gartrell's homer was his fourth home run on the G-Braves' road trip and his 10th overall.
On the mound: Todd Redmond (4-3) earned his second win of the road trip. He pitched seven innings, allowing a run on five hits. He did not issue a walk and he struck out three. Cory Gearrin closed the game by pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth with one walk and four strikeouts.
