Braves prospects will play for Javelinas in Fall League

LOS ANGELES — Braves prospects will be assigned to the Peoria Javelinas during the upcoming Arizona Fall League that begins Oct. 7, and Triple-A Gwinnett hitting coach Garey Ingram will also serve in that role for the Javelinas.

They’ll be joined by prospects from the Indians, Royals, Cardinals and Rays on a team to be managed by Vance Wilson of the Royals organization. The Javelinas will play home games at suburban Surprise Stadium west of Phoenix.

Rosters will be announced in late August the six-team league, and schedules in early August. Current Braves second baseman Tommy La Stella was among the prospects who played in the AFL last year, and Freddie Freeman, Jason Heyward and Christian Bethancourt were among Braves who played in previous AFL seasons.

The schedule runs through mid-November with the championship game set for Nov. 15 at Scottsdale Stadium.
