Lawrenceville native Lucas Sims picked up his first Triple-A win and took the minor-league lead with 65 strikeouts this season as the Gwinnett Braves beat host Norfolk 9-2 Wednesday afternoon.

Sims (1-3) pitched five innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs. He walked six and struck out seven.

The Atlanta Braves drafted Sims in the first round (21st pick overall) in 2012.

Emilio Bonifacio went 3-for-5 with two runs, a double and two RBIs for Gwinnett (23-23).

Adonis Garcia was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Ozzie Albies and Jace Peterson both were 2-for-5 with a run scored, plus Peterson had an RBI.
