Manny Banuelos thoroughly impressed in his major-league debut, striking out seven and allowing just two hits over 5 2/3 innings. He left the game in the sixth with cramping and dehydration.

Scherzer allowed five hits over another complete game. He picked up the loss and Jason Grilli got the win.
