The Braves have hired former Rangers and Indians general manager John Hart as a senior advisor in baseball operations.
Hart, 65, spent the past 12 seasons with the Rangers, eight as senior advisor after four as GM. He will continue to serve as a studio analyst at MLB Network.
“John brings a wealth of knowledge and experience,” Braves general manager Frank Wren said. “I am looking forward to his contributions to our organization throughout baseball operations.”
Before going to the Rangers, Hart served 10 years as Cleveland GM, during which the Indians won six American League Central titles in a seven-year span and played in two World Series. He was voted the Sporting News’ Major League Executive of the Year in 1994 and again in 1995.
Hart was minor league manager and major league third-base coach with the Baltimore Orioles before being hired by Cleveland as a special-assignment scout in 1989
