Heyward homered in three consecutive games and had four in a week. He has nine homers and 27 RBIs this season. Heyward hit .440 in the past week, boosting his average to .278.
Craig Kimbrel, P
San Diego Padres
Kimbrel has 43 strikeouts in 28 innings, but has also allowed 24 hits and walked 13 batters. He has 18 saves this season and has lowered his ERA to 3.54.
Dan Uggla, 2B
Washington Nationals
He hasn’t started a game since May 27 and had only three at-bats in the past week (going hitless). Uggla is hitting .216 with one homer and 12 RBIs.
Evan Gattis, OF-DH
Houston Astros
He’s hitting just .228, but Gattis leads the Astros with 43 RBIs. For comparison, Freddie Freeman leads the Braves with 41. Gattis has fanned 63 times in 70 games.
Justin Upton, OF
San Diego Padres
He could be traded if the Padres continue to struggle. A contender might seek a quick boost from the slugger, who is hitting .274 with 13 homers and 43 RBIs and will be a free agent after the season.
Brian McCann, C-1B
New York Yankees
McCann’s strong season is continuing. He hit .421 in the past week and is batting .275 with 11 homers and 45 RBIs this season. He hit .232 last season.
Tim Hudson, P
San Francisco Giants
The Giants are considering placing Hudson on the disabled list after his Friday start, to rest the 39-year-old veteran who is in his 17th season. Hudson is 5-6 with a 4.52 ERA.
Jeff Francoeur, OF
Philadelphia Phillies
He’s gone 1-for-11 at the plate, with no RBIs or runs, since the Phillies let him pitch two innings in a blowout loss June 16. Francoeur is hitting .253 with four homers and 21 RBIs.
Melvin Upton Jr. OF
San Diego Padres
He’s hitting .179 in 15 games after returning from an injury. San Diego is trying him at leadoff occasionally. Upton is 3-for-3 in stolen bases and hit his first home run of the season.
Brandon Beachy, P
Los Angeles Dodgers
Beachy, who has had two elbow surgeries, made his first rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma on Sunday. He pitched two scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk. He struck out three.
