How the game was won: After scoring three runs in the entire series against the Chicago Cubs, the Braves put two runs up in the first on Nick Markakis' first home run of the seaaon. They tacked on two more runs in the fourth with Jace Peterson's bases-loaded double.

Los Angeles tied the game at 4 in the next inning on Howie Kendrick’s two-RBI double and Adrian Gonzalez’s two-run homer.

Atlanta regained the lead quickly, though, as Juan Uribe’s RBI single in the bottom of the fifth put the Braves up for good.

Other than giving up the four-run fifth inning, Matt Wisler pitched a solid six innings Monday night. He allowed the four runs on eight hits while striking out two.

Former Brave Brandon Beachy returned to Turner Field, this time as a Dodgers starter. He allowed four runs on five hits and three walks over four innings.

Number: 29. Wisler's win was the Braves' 29th from starters age 24 or younger. That leads the big leagues; St. Louis is second with 21.

What's next: Alex Wood (6-6, 3.76 ERA) starts against fellow lefty Brett Anderson (5-5, 3.17 ERA) Tuesday night in the second of a three-game series.
