Bobby Cox is going into the Hall of Fame.

Another one, that is.

The International League announced Tuesday that it will induct the former Richmond Braves player into its Hall of Fame with the Class of 2019. Cox, of course, had a Baseball Hall of Fame career as manager of the Atlanta Braves.

The enshrinement will take play in a ceremony at Coolray Field before a Gwinnett Stripers game on April 6. He will be presented with the Curtain Call statue by International League president Randy Mobley and will throw out the first pitch. The Stripers, the Braves Class AAA affiliate, will also give away replica Hall of Fame jerseys, which will feature Cox’s name and number. The first 2,500 fans will receive the jersey.

Cox played for Gwinnett’s Triple-A predecessor in Richmond. in 1967, batting .297 with 14 home runs and 51 RBIs to lead the R-Braves to the pennant. Following a trade to the New York Yankees in 1967, he returned to the league with Syracuse in 1970 and was part of the Chiefs club that won the Governors’ Cup championship.

Cox managed the Syracuse Chiefs for four seasons from 1973-76, compiling a 304-261 (.538) record in 565 games. He guided the club to three consecutive appearances in the Governors’ Cup Finals (1974-76) and one Governors’ Cup championship (1976).
