Atlanta United’s Mo Adams is expected to miss as many as six weeks after he underwent successful surgery Tuesday to repair a hernia.

The player posted the news Tuesday on Twitter.

Adams likely will miss the team’s opening Champions League at Alajuelense on April 6, as well as the return leg at Kennesaw State on April 13, and possibly the league opener April 17 or April 18.

Adams, 24, was expected to compete at defensive midfielder with Santiago Sosa and Franco Ibarra.

Adams made nine starts as part of 13 appearances last season.
