Atlanta United striker Josef Martinez and midfielder MIguel Almiron were selected to the MLS Best XI team, which was revealed by the league on Sunday.

Martinez set a league single-season scoring record with 31 goals. Almiron scored 12 goals and added 14 assists for the Five Stripes, which finished tied for the second-most points in league history (69). It’s Almiron’s second consecutive Best XI.

Atlanta United will host NYCFC on Sunday in the second leg of the MLS Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series. Atlanta United won the first leg 1-0 at Yankee Stadium.

Voting included clubs, players and media. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution does not participate per policy.

The MLS Best XI:

Goalkeeper Zack Steffen, Columbus, 10 shutouts.

Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, L.A. Galaxy, 22 goals, 10 assists.

Striker Wayne Rooney, D.C. United, 12 goals, 7 assists.

Striker Josef Martinez, Atlanta United, 31 goals.

Midfielder Luciano Acosta, D.C. United, 10 goals, 17 assists.

Midfielder Miguel Almiron, Atlanta United, 12 goals, 14 assists.

Midfielder Ignacio Piatti, Montreal, 16 goals, 13 assists.

Midfielder Carlos Vela, LAFC, 14 goals, 13 assists.

Defender Kemar Lawrence, NYRB, team allowed a league-low 33 goals.

Defender Aaron Long, NYRB, the league’s Defender of the Year.

Defender Chad Marshall, Seattle, fourth selection to the Best XI.
