AJC Peachtree to host USA 10k championship

June 5, 2013

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race will host the 2013 USA men’s and women’s 10K championship this year. It will be the first time that the Peachtree will serve as the host race for the women’s 10K championship. It was previously the men’s 10K championship in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Both championships will return in 2014.

The USA 10K championship is part of USA Track and Field’s road series that showcases and supports U.S. distance runners. The champions will receive $30,000 each. Among participants are Abdi Abdirahman, a three-time Olympian and four-time USA 10K champion, and Lindsey Scherf, who finished fourth overall last year at the Peachtree and was the first American female finisher.
