Two standout high school football players are among three teenagers charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old man, authorities confirmed.

The suspects — Kimauri Farmer, 18, of Carrollton High School; Joshawia Davis, 17, of Bowdon High; and a 15-year-old whose name has not been released — were arrested in connection with the death of Tyrone Boykin, who was found fatally shot around noon Friday in Carrollton.

Farmer and Davis remain in custody at the Carroll County Jail, according to the jail log. Bond has been denied.

Farmer, a rising senior, verbally committed last month to play college football at Liberty University. According to 247Sports.com, the three-star prospect held additional scholarship offers from Indiana and Kansas and other programs.

Davis played a key role in Bowdon’s third-straight state championship last season, rushing for 107 yards and two touchdowns in the title game against Brooks County.

Police have not released details about a possible motive or what led to the shooting. The investigation remains active.

A message Monday seeking information from the Carrollton Police Department was not immediately returned.

Bowdon High is in the Carroll County School District.

“The district has been informed about two of its students being arrested in connection with a recent shooting incident that occurred in the city of Carrollton,” a school district spokesperson said in a statement. “Law enforcement is continuing their investigation surrounding the incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have been impacted by this tragedy.”
