The spookiest time of the year is right around the corner, and the haunted corners of Savannah are getting their shine. Costumes are being locked in, candy is going on sale, boo-worthy decorations are going up, the trick-or-treaters are geared up to sing a song demanding their candy and the ghosts are out. But Halloween and fall activities aren't only happening on Oct. 31. There are plenty of activities happening around Savannah that are sure to make for a happy Halloween.

Through Oct. 31

Rincon Recreation Department Haunted House: 6:30-9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday leading up to Halloween; 1004 Lexington Ave., Rincon; Rincon Recreation Department hosting third annual haunted house. $5 fee.

Oktoberfest at Plant Riverside District: 1-4 p.m. Saturdays. Oktoberfest at Plant Riverside will feature free live music, free keg bowling, bratwurst eating contests and stein holding competitions at the Pavillion Tent. Friday and Saturdays from 7-10 p.m. will feature performances by local and regional artists.

Ottawa Farms Pumpkin Patch: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 702 Bloomingdale Road, Bloomingdale; free admission, nothing says Halloween like carving pumpkin into jack-o'-lanterns, and find that local pumpkin patch here. Facebook Ottawafarms

Alee Haunted House: 7:30-10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 100 Eisenburg Drive; $10 per person; This one is for the adrenaline junkies who love a good jump scare. Prepare to run and scream with this haunted house adventure. aleeshriners.org

UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium Halloween Scavenger Hunt: M-F 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; 30 Ocean Science Circle; Ages 3-12: $5; Ages13-54: $7; Seniors (55+), military and college students with I.D.: $5

Children 2 and under: Free; How well do you know the spookiest marine animals? Other special activities offered include a temporary skull exhibit and take-home Halloween crafts for kids.

Oct. 28

"Costume on the Woof" at Electric Moon at Plant Riverside District: 5-7 p.m.; Oct. 28; Plant Riverside District is partnering with Woof Gang Bakery to host a special Halloween event for dogs and their owners to enjoy. The first 100 participants will receive festive treats, including sweets for humans and special dog treats from Woof Gang Bakery. The event will also feature a costume context. Admission is $25 and all proceeds will be donated to local, no-kill animal rescue organizations.

Oct. 28-Nov. 2

Black Mass at The Chapel Gallery: 4-8 p.m. Oct. 28-Nov. 2.; 2207 Harmon St.; Chapel Art Gallery, 2207 Harmon St., featuring 20-plus artists, stocks of prints and small works with a trick-or-treat reception from 4-8 p.m. Oct. 29. Facebook chapelsav

Oct. 30

Halloween Bash at Plant Riverside District's Electric Moon: Rock-soul band LaFaye & The Fellas will perform a free live concert at the Pavilion Tent along the Savannah riverfront while dressed up in Halloween costumes from 7-10 p.m. Cirque Divina will showcase a free Halloween Spectacular cirque show along the riverfront at 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Oct. 31

Chatham County Community Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat: 3-5 p.m. Oct. 31; 160 Priscilla D Thomas Way, Garden City Recreation Center; nonprofit S2S Facts Inc. is teaming up with the City of Garden City, churches, businesses and nonprofits to offer the second annual Community Drive Through Trunk or Treat free to the community. A family-fun event that serves as an alternative to trick or treating.

Port Wentworth Trick or Treating: The City of Port Wentworth is observing Halloween, and trick or treating is recommended between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The Port Wentworth Police Department urges parents/guardians to ensure that all children are supervised as this will assist in keeping the holiday festivities safe and enjoyable by all who celebrate it.
