The threat of snow and freezing rain will curtail jury deliberations in the murder trial of a woman linked to the shooting death of a Clayton County police officer.
Lisa Ann Lebis was in the Stockbridge motel room with her husband, Tremaine Lynn Lebis, the December 2012 night that police were called to break up a domestic dispute, prosecutors said.
Rookie officer Sean Callahan, 24, was one of the policemen who responded, and he died as a result of the subsequent shootout with Tremaine Lebis, authorities said.
Tremaine Lebis was killed in the gunfire exchange, police said.
Lisa Lebis was charged with felony murder – or being a party to Callahan’s murder – among other offenses, and was in court Monday as the case went to the jury.
Tuesday, officials announced that the Clayton County courthouse would be closed for the next two days in anticipation of freezing rain and snow threatening metro Atlanta.
As a result, jurors who completed their second day of deliberations will now be at home Wednesday and Thursday waiting to see if weather will allow the courthouse to reopen on Friday, authorities said. The jury was released around 7:30 p.m. with no verdict, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Lisa Lebis remains in the Clayton County Jail, according to jail officials.
