No, nothing was in the water Wednesday night in Madera, California.
California Highway Patrol actually did chase and capture a unicorn.
According to KTVU, a white pony in a unicorn costume escaped from a child's birthday party and led police on a chase as it weaved in and out of traffic for a few hours.
It first got away around 2:30 p.m. local time and was quickly recaptured.
But no one was going to control the pony; it escaped from a child again about three hours later.
The second capture proved a little more difficult.
Police tracked it down using a helicopter and heat seeking radar, KTVU reported.
It was found in an orchard.
Not only did the pony sport a unicorn horn, it also had a pink halter on. Some drivers were surprised at seeing the pony, while others were not sure what they had seen.
Police said reminded parents that, "Children should not be tasked with restraining any animal near roadways, especially the large ones."
