They say everything is bigger in Texas.
An 8-foot-wide vortex capable of sucking in a full-sized boat has opened up in Lake Texoma on the Texas-Oklahoma border.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District posted dramatic video of the vortex on YouTube, where it has generated over 350,000 views.
According to the engineers, an intake vortex is a normal occurrence when flood waters are released from a reservoir via flood control gates.
Safety buoys and caution signs have been posted in the area.
Texas was hit this spring with multiple storms that produced heavy rains and widespread flooding. The National Weather Service said over 35 trillion gallons of water fell in Texas in May.
