With 90-degree temps and a 40% chance of rain in the forecast, short sleeves, sunglasses and an umbrella are a must on Wednesday,
“We’ve got the heat. We’ve got the humidity. We’ve got August in Georgia,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
Wednesday is expected to be the 29th day with 90-degree temperatures so far this year. The predicted high in Atlanta is 91, according to Channel 2.
The morning is starting off in the low and mid-70s. While things are relatively dry, a few areas are seeing pop-up showers, Monahan said.
The afternoon could bring more storms, according to Channel 2.
“Around 1 o’clock, showers and storms will be scattered across metro Atlanta,” Monahan said.
However, things will dry out later. Rain chances drop to 30% Thursday and Friday, according to the latest forecast.
It’s a fairly easy ride through metro Atlanta, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. There are only a few traffic hangups.
A water main break prompted authorities to shut down lanes on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive between Lynhurst and Hamilton E. Holmes drives in Atlanta, the Traffic Center reported.
A crash temporarily blocked the HOV lane and one left lane on I-85 in DeKalb County near Shallowford Road.
Lanes reopened just before 6:30 a.m., but delays remain if you’re heading into Midtown.
