The variety and caliber of speakers at the virtual 2020 Democratic National Convention has been at top of mind for viewers and pundits this week. Yet, even in the unusual remote setup of the convention, the performances have also stunned, especially in the case of Jennifer Hudson.

The Chicago native gave one of the most talked about performances of the week Wednesday night. The “Dreamgirls” star, draped in an orange gown, gave a plain-sailing, soul-stirring performance of the Sam Cooke classic “A Change Is Gonna Come.” She performed the song in her hometown at the palatial Chicago Cultural Center.

Twitter users have expressed their awe and adoration for the singer’s performance since Wednesday night.

Other performance Wednesday night included: Billie Eilish, singing her new single “My Future,” and Prince Royce, who performed a bilingual rendition of “Stand By Me” while walking along a pathway covered in street art. On The Chicks will close out the event.
