DeKalb County police have issued arrest warrants for two men who were allegedly involved in a shooting Thursday morning at a Glenwood Road hotel that left a woman in the hospital.

The shooting happened around 10 a.m. at the Glen Royal Hotel in the 4400 block of Glenwood Road.

“Two males were in an altercation over a gun,” DeKalb police Capt. Stephen Fore told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an email. “The gun discharged, striking the female.”

Fore said Friday that the wounded woman, 28-year-old Melanie Patton, is in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital and is “expected to make a full recovery.”

He said investigators have taken out warrants for Samuel Jenkins, 30, and Cory Waithe, 25, charging each with reckless conduct.

The incident was the second shooting this week at a south DeKalb hotel.

On Monday, a maid found a man and woman dead inside a room at the Knights Inn on Panola Road.
