A viral video of a man aiming a gun at a St. Lucie County, Florida, sheriff's deputy cruiser is raising concern over the lack of action taken by law enforcement in a WPTV Channel 5 News report.
"They don't take this seriously. They don't take this behavior seriously," said Luis Blasco, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 50, in Palm Beach County, to WPTV.
The video was posted to Snapchat and initially shows a man shooting a handgun in a field. Later two men are seen driving in the car and drinking. As they pass by a deputy cruiser one of the men aims a handgun and both are heard laughing.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office identified the two men but did not press criminal charges. Detectives claim the men were legally shooting the gun in a rural area and the cruiser was unmanned.
"What if a deputy was behind them and had seen the gun? They're putting themselves and the deputy in a dangerous situation," Blasco said to WPTV. "We're already on high alert as it is. ... If you really want to have fun, (there are) other things to do other than act stupid. Because, that's what this is. It's acting stupid."
The Sheriff’s Office met with the two men and let the parents “discipline them for their actions,” WPTV reports.
