The State Transportation Board on Thursday elected new officers to lead them over the coming year, including new Chairman Don Grantham, of Augusta.
Grantham, the former vice chairman, will replace outgoing chair Jay Shaw, of Lakeland, who will continue service as a regular board member.
The 14-member State Transportation Board supervises the operations of the Georgia Department of Transportation, including naming the Commissioner, approving long-range transportation plans and overseeing administration of construction contracts. Members are elected to five-year terms by a majority of a General Assembly caucus from their congressional district.
Grantham was elected to the board in 2011. He is president and CEO of the Forest Sales Corporation. And, he has served previously on the Augusta Commission, Richmond County Commission and Georgia Ports Authority.
Also on Thursday, Emily Dunn, of Blue Ridge, was chosen as vice chairman and Robert Brown, of Decatur, was elected secretary of the board.
