Authorities have identified a woman struck and killed by a train early Sunday as 47-year-old Juli Ann Vasenden of Athens.

Vasenden was in a wooded area near Childs Front Drive and Lake Place Drive in Athens when a CSX train hit her around midnight. She was not at a crossing, Athens-Clarke County Police told WSB-TV.

The train conductor reportedly called 911 after he realized he hit a person. A blood sample as collected for toxicology testing to determine if Vasenden was impaired at the time of the accident.

The investigation is still ongoing, officials said.
