The Fourth of July in Atlanta brings The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, fireworks festivities and — this year — an Atlanta United soccer match.
And along with it comes road closures and MARTA route changes.
MARTA bus routes 5, 12, 25, 27, 36, 37, 39 and 110 will be redirected to accommodate street closures during the road race, spokesman Erik Burton said in a news release Monday.
The race, which begins at 5 a.m. Tuesday on Lenox Road near Lenox Square Mall, will shut down major roads including East Paces Ferry, Peachtree, Piedmont and Lenox. MARTA trains are expected to run from 5 a.m. to 1:10 a.m. Wednesday.

MARTA anticipates more than 21,000 passengers and is urging riders to buy round-trip tickets for $2.50 to avoid long lines. Breeze cards can be purchased for $2 at any MARTA station.
Those looking to attend the fireworks celebration at Centennial Olympic Park from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and the Atlanta United game at 7 p.m. at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium are also urged to take MARTA.
The transit system expects 4,000 riders headed to Centennial and 7,500 passengers for the soccer match against the San Jose Earthquakes. A fireworks show will follow the game.
