1 killed in crash that shut down I-285 ramp in DeKalb

A man was killed Thursday morning when a car ran off the ramp from I-285 to Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in DeKalb County, authorities said.
The driver of a Hyundai was driving too fast on the curved westbound exit ramp and ran off the shoulder around 7 a.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol. The vehicle hit the guard rail with its front bumper, continued down an embankment and rolled over several times.
The driver, who was identified by the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s office as 27-year-old Adrian Williams, was ejected from the vehicle and killed. Williams was originally from Kansas but had residences in the Austell and Decatur areas, authorities said.
The crash shut down the ramp for several hours Thursday morning while authorities investigated, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. Doraville police and GSP traffic investigators were called to the scene.
