The driver of a day care bus has been charged in connection with a Paulding County crash that sent 11 people to hospitals, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Tracy Moreland, 50, of Dallas, was charged with failure to yield while turning left, the GSP told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The crash happened on Nathan Dean Boulevard at Merchants Drive last Friday morning in Dallas, officials said.

The driver of a pickup truck that collided with the bus, Harry Martin, 34, of Lithia Springs, is charged with driving with an expired license.

Eight children on the Paulding Preparatory Academy bus, ages 6 to 10, were taken to WellStar Paulding Hospital with minor injuries, officials said.

The bus was headed westbound and preparing to turn left onto Ga. 61 South, Paulding sheriff’s Sgt. Ashley Henson said at the scene. The truck was eastbound, and the crash happened when the turn was made.

“It was a very chaotic scene,” Henson said.

Moreland, Martin and a passenger in the truck also were taken to a hospital.

The intersection long has been hazardous. There have been 42 wrecks at the location since 2011, Dallas police spokeswoman Kim Wallace said Wednesday.
