Distracted driving and possible impairment by alcohol or drugs may have been factors in a crash that shut down all southbound lanes of I-75 in Cobb County early Friday, the Georgia State Patrol said.

The accident happened at South Marietta Parkway when a southbound car struck a temporary barrier wall, the agency said in a statement.

“The vehicle rotated and began to overturn,” according to the GSP.

The driver, identified as Samantha Zacharias, 20, of Essex, Ill., was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected, the GSP said.

Marietta fire freed the passenger, identified as Ashlee Fife, 28, of Plainfield, Ill., who was in the back seat, the agency said.

Zacharias and Fife were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the GSP said.

At one point, delays stretched as far back as Barrett Parkway in north Cobb. All lanes reopened to traffic shortly after 10:30 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
