1. Sanders invokes Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy in Atlanta
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders visited the Martin Luther King Jr. Center before he met a crowd of more than 4,000 at the Fox Theatre. For the first time since 2008, two of the 32 college students selected as Rhodes Scholars this year are Georgia natives. Leah Michalove, 22, was chosen from Emory University and Machmud Makhmudov, 21, attends Oberlin College in Ohio. 4. Controversial homeless shelter allowed to continue fight to survive
On Monday, the Georgia Supreme Court allowed the Metro Task Force for the Homeless to continue its legal battle to regain control of its controversial shelter. Much of the controversy stems from the task force's inability to pay its bills. Read more.
5. Fulton County to pay $18 million to settle equal pay lawsuits
According to the workers' attorney, the lawsuits were brought on by hundreds of Fulton County employees who say they were "shortchanged on pay." That money will settle eight lawsuits that say the county violated civil service rules requiring equal pay for employees in the same job classification. Read more.
