Q: There are several large digital signs on Terrell Mill and Lower Roswell roads in Cobb County saying, “Water Authority, 9/12/15, Expect Delays.” I want to know more about what to expect as I use that road daily.

A: The East Cobb Pipeline Project, which is projected to cost nearly $42 million, will replace "6.1 miles of pipe that is more than 50 years old," in a process that is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2017.

The construction will be in three phases, the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority (CCMWA) states on its website (ccmwa.org).

It was scheduled to start Sept. 12.

Phase 1: This starts at the intersection of Lower Roswell Road and Gant Place, goes west to Terrell Mill Road and then stops at Powers Ferry Road.

Phase 2: Construction will continue west of Powers Ferry Road and extend along Terrell Mill Road to U.S. 41.

Phase 3: The final pipe replacement will start at Indian Hills Parkway and Cove Drive and continue along Lower Roswell Road to Gant Place. This phase could begin as soon as next spring, the website states.

Lane closures and traffic delays are expected and CCMWA states it will provide updates and maps on its website, on Twitter (@waterCCMWA) and at www.cobbcommute.org.

The project hotline number is 770-514-5301.

Meetings have been held this year to inform the community.
