Police conducted a welfare check at the Silver Creek Apartments in Lufkin after water was reported dripping into a downstairs unit, the television station reported.

"Patrol officers took two male suspects into custody -- one on drug charges and the other on warrants -- and discovered what they initially believed to be part of a methamphetamine lab," according to a news release.

After responding to the scene, the Lufkin Police Department Special Services Division determined the items were bomb-making components and evacuated six units, KTRE reported.

Six units in building two were evacuated early Tuesday.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we are evacuating the units in that building until the ATF can complete its investigation," Lufkin police Chief David Thomas said.
