An 18-year-old was arrested Tuesday following a pursuit into Fayette County after a Clayton County officer witnessed gunfire at a gas station, authorities said.

The suspected gunman, Remon Arquis Gosier, was taken into custody “without incident” and booked into the Clayton County Jail early Wednesday morning. He was charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, first-degree criminal damage and possession of a weapon during a crime.

A Clayton County officer, who was at the intersection of Tara Boulevard and McDonough Road around 4:15 p.m., heard gunshots coming from a BP, police spokesman Officer Jordan Parrish said in a news release. The officer said he saw a man shooting at someone, then quickly get into a 2016 Hyundai Sonata with another person and speed away.

The intended victim did not remain at the scene and was not injured, Parrish said. Gunfire struck two vehicles, one of which had an 11-year-old inside. Parrish confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.

The officer immediately began to follow the Sonata into Fayette County, Parrish said. However, the pursuit ended when the officer was unable to maintain sight of the vehicle.

The search continued with the help of Clayton County and Fayette County sheriff’s deputies. Authorities searched a neighborhood the vehicle was believed to have turned into and the car was eventually located, Parrish said. That was when Gosier was apprehended.

Witnesses told police that two other shooting suspects were seen entering a black vehicle and leaving the area, Parrish said. They were located and taken into custody as well. The weapon used was recovered from the black vehicle, Parrish said.

Harvey Douglas Houston, 19, was charged with fleeing from police, reckless driving, speeding, aggravated assault and financial transaction card theft, in addition to aggravated assault in another case, Parrish said. The third suspect was not identified by police.
