An Atlanta man has been arrested in connection to a Wednesday morning stabbing at a MARTA station that allegedly stemmed from an argument.

Contavious Burson, 22, of Atlanta was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a knife in commission of a felony, MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris said. Burson allegedly stabbed a man shortly before 5 a.m. at the North Avenue MARTA station.

Harris said the victim remains in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital. He earlier said that the man had been transported with non-life-threatening injuries. A witness told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the man was stabbed in the abdomen shortly before the station opened.

“One guy said the other guy walked up too close to him,” said Sheila Williams, who saw the stabbing. “They were both just going into the train station.”

Service at the North Avenue station, located near the intersection with West Peachtree Street, was not disrupted.
