Metro Atlanta is in store for another warm, sunny day for the second half of the weekend.
After starting off in the low 70s, Sunday’s temperature is expected to reach an afternoon high of about 90 degrees, said Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon.
While there is a 20% chance of isolated showers in some parts of North Georgia, there likely won’t be enough rain to put a damper on any outdoor plans, according to the latest forecast.
Metro Atlanta will stay mostly dry despite Hurricane Isaias barreling toward the Atlantic Coast. As of Saturday afternoon, the Category 1 storm was making its way toward Florida with wind speeds of 80 mph and gusts of up to 100 mph.
A tropical storm watch was issued for parts of coastal Georgia as homeowners prepared to buckle down, if necessary.
Georgia residents living along the Atlantic can expect a rough surf and a high risk of rip currents starting Sunday evening or early Monday morning, Deon said.
“There could be some coastal flooding, but the heaviest rain should be just off shore,” she added. “It’s going to hang just off our coast, mainly early on Monday, before it heads up into the Carolinas.”

Metro Atlanta residents won’t be directly impacted by the storm, though increased moisture in the area is expected to bring scattered showers on Monday.
According to the latest forecast, there’s a 40% chance of rain to start the work week along with an afternoon high of 89 degrees.

As for traffic, several ongoing construction projects could cause overnight delays for drivers on metro Atlanta interstates.
Weekend-long detours are planned along Abernathy Road at Ga. 400 to accommodate drainage installation for the I-285/Ga. 400 project, Georgia Department of Transportation officials said.
And in Cobb County, motorists on I-75 can expect overnight delays at Barrett Parkway as construction continues on a bridge rehabilitation project there.
