A Gwinnett County man was shot early Monday during an apparent drive-by shooting, police said.

The shooting happened about 12:15 a.m. in the 2900 block of Trotters Pointe Drive, where a resident “reported that her fiancé was shot in the back while sleeping and it appeared it may have been from a drive by-type shooting,” Gwinnett police Sgt. Troy Tobler said.

“At this time, it appears that several individuals occupying a vehicle exited it before shooting at the residence,” Tobler said.

Police are looking for a four-door pickup truck, possibly black or maroon.

The victim, a man in his early 40s, was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, and is expected to survive, Tobler said.

“Although the victim appears to be an unintended target,” he said, “police do not believe the crime itself is random.”
