The weather forecast in metro Atlanta this weekend might be uneventful, but the streets in popular neighborhoods should provide plenty of excitement.

A 20% chance of rain on Saturday is the only precipitation expected over the weekend, which should remain relatively sunny, according to the latest forecast.

“High temperatures (Saturday) will be quite a bit cooler than we’ve seen,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Glenn Burns said. The afternoon high is expected to top out at 53 degrees before warming into the 60s for the second half of the weekend.

Sunday follows the same pattern with a morning low of 33 degrees before warming to a high of 60 degrees on a mostly sunny day. Next week’s weather should be even warmer, however, with temperatures in the high 60s on Monday.

“By Tuesday, a warming trend begins with a high of 67 and it’s going to be close to 70 on Wednesday,” Burns said.

The weather might not pose much of an issue this weekend, but traffic could be a different story. Atlanta will host the NBA’s All-Star Weekend, and there will be plenty of parties and events taking place despite Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ pleas to the contrary.

Much of the traffic will be concentrated downtown where the NBA All-Star Game will take place at State Farm Arena on Sunday night. The event — the big game starts at 8 p.m. — will have a compressed schedule with the dunk contest taking place during halftime.

Traffic is likely to increase downtown throughout the day, but expect heavier traffic than usual in other popular neighborhoods with large event venues like Buckhead and midtown.

Unrelated to the NBA’s All-Star Weekend, expect lane closures on I-75 in Cobb County as crews perform rehabilitation work on two bridges over the course of the weekend. The lane closures will be around the Dickson Road Bridge and Bells Ferry Bridge, according to the department of transportation.

Other weekend lane closures include the regularly-scheduled continuation of work on the Transform 285/400 project around the Ga. 400 and I-285 interchange.
