A boil water advisory issued for Rockdale County was lifted this morning, authorities said.

The county received verbal approval to lift the advisory from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division after all water samples taken “rendered clean results for bacteria,” Rockdale Water Resources deputy director Terrell Gibbs told Channel 2 Action News.

Residents can resume normal water use, he said.

A Friday night storm damaged the network that runs the county’s water plant, and it is suspected that the water pressure briefly fell below the acceptable level required by the state agency, Gibbs previously said.

When water pressure drops below acceptable levels, a potential health hazard may result, officials said in a news release.

Residents were advised to boil all tap water for at least one minute prior to use for drinking, cooking or preparing baby food.
