The major interstate traffic tie-ups that put roadblocks in the travel plans of many metro Atlanta motorists Saturday will return Sunday.
The weather will continue to cooperate with road crews on the top-end Perimeter, where a couple of northbound lanes will be closed from Atlanta Road to Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County. On the southbound side of I-285, two lanes will be shut down from Cobb Parkway to Paces Ferry Road.
East of there, lane closures are planned on I-285 westbound from Roswell Road to Riverside Drive. The ramp from I-285 westbound to Riverside Drive will also be closed this weekend.
In south DeKalb County, up to two lanes of I-285 in each direction will be blocked near Glenwood Road for construction.
According to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz, clouds will increase into Sunday with cool temperatures and morning lows in the 40s. Winds are expected to pick up out of the southeast.
“It’ll be breezy, but that also blows in some more warmth,” Nitz said. “So we’re looking at temperatures in the upper 60s [Sunday] and a few spots get close to 70 degrees.”
The rain returns Monday with an 80 percent chance, Nitz said. “On Monday, showers and a few thundershowers move in,” he said. Temperatures will remain in the mid 60s.
“After the front that brings Monday’s rain, we dry out Tuesday and Wednesday, and [temperatures] turn a little cooler.
