A South Carolina middle school student was hospitalized Friday after passing out, and school officials believe alcohol was involved.
According to an incident report from the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the principal at Sims Middle School in Union searched the 13-year-old’s book bag and found nine empty mini bottles of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, The State reported.
The search of the bag also revealed a half-empty mini bottle, along with two unopened bottles of Fireball, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Before the student became sick, he distributed “an undetermined number of mini bottles to other students,” and four unopened bottles were recovered, bringing the total to 16, The State reported, citing the incident report.
The student obtained the mini bottles from his grandfather’s home without the man’s knowledge and brought them to school, the newspaper reported.
The boy was arrested and charged with drunkenness and liquor law violations including possession at school, The State reported. He was released to the custody of his mother, the newspaper reported.
