Nicholas Celius, 23, is accused of possession of cocaine, heroin and marijuana, as well as resisting an officer, WWL reported. The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office said Celius was carrying a backpack that included marijuana, crack cocaine and heroin. The crack was listed as "13 small rock-like pieces," and the heroin was described as a "small amount of powder," the television station reported.

At 10 p.m. Tuesday, a guard at the Orleans Justice Center saw Celius breach a perimeter wall, WGNO reported. Celius eluded authorities for a few minutes before he was arrested by the New Orleans Police Department, the television station reported. Police said at least two other suspects fleeing with Celius remain at large, WGNO reported.

The Sheriff's Office is trying to determine how the suspects were planning to deliver the drugs to the inmates, since they do not have access to the yard outside the wall, WWL reported.

“The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office will continue to aggressively combat the constant efforts of individuals to introduce narcotics into the jail,” Sheriff Marlin Gusman said in a statement. “We appreciate the diligence of our staff to detect this latest threat, as well as the quick response of the New Orleans Police Department.”
